Plastic Prototyping

YI HITECH is a company specializing in rapid prototyping services and production of series of plastic parts and metal parts. Our prototypes let you validate a design, perform assembly testing or prepare the launch of a product. With many years in the industrial production services, we succeed to produce plastic rapid prototyping of the highest quality, both in terms of its technical functionality and its visual aesthetics. As experts in the plastic rapid prototyping field in China it is our mission to provide the best quality service and product. Our main service includes.

1) Engineering support during product development.

2) 3D scanning and modeling.

3) Rapid prototyping

4) Tooling design and production

5) Metal and plastic part fabrication.

What Is Plastic Prototyping?

Rapid prototyping is the creation a physical part through an assortment of processes such as 3D printing, which is the most common process. The rapid prototyping process quickens the entire manufacturing process. Engineers and product designers use rapid prototyping for any kind of product development. However, they most often use it for plastic part development since most 3D printers can only use plastic.

Plastic prototyping involves using specialized techniques for making high-quality physical models of a design idea. Prototypes are useful for design improvement, as stepping stones to full production or for engineering testing. They are meant to be made quickly and economically, without the need for the investment in hard tooling.

Main Plastic prototyping technologies includes

1. CNC machining, plastic block was formed through machining cutting.

2. SLA plastic prototype printing

3. SLS plastic prototype printing

4. FDM plastic prototype printing

5. Polyjet printing

6. Multi-jet-Fusion MJF 3D printing

7. Rapid Tooling

• Tooling Inserts with POLYJET

• Tooling Insert with aluminum

• Tooling Insert with S50C.

• Whole tooling with silicone

• Tooling Insert with DLSM inserts.

Advantages of Rapid Plastic Prototyping

1. Show your customers and investors a physical model of your product concept

2. Demonstrate the appearance, dimensions and features a product

3. Market test before going into production

4. Identify and eliminate design flaws

5. Determine the best manufacturing and finishing processes

6. Create multiple versions with different materials, colours, finishes, sizes etc

Each method has strengths and weaknesses:

• 3D printing is fast and can reproduce complex and organic shapes impossible via traditional means. With no upfront tooling costs, it can be inexpensive as long as only a few parts are needed. However, there are limited economies of scale as costs can rise with quantity. Also, a limited (but growing) range of materials are available.

• Rapid injection molding uses metal molds to produce truly functional parts. It has a wide material selection of resins and color options and multiple surface finishes, from textured to high gloss, are attainable. It is similar to traditional injection molding, though far faster and brings with it a much more affordable point of entry—think $10,000 (aluminum) vs. $100,000 (steel) for tooling, for example.

• Traditional injection molding wins in part complexity and finish, but is generally considered too slow and expensive for prototyping, though it may be used when there is a high likelihood that the molds will go directly into large-scale production.

Key considerations for prototyping

Considerations during prototyping include quality, cost, and speed. The required "quality" of a prototype can vary greatly. In early design stages, the resemblance to production parts can be approximate, but as development moves closer to launch, prototypes must more closely match finished parts. There are a few areas from which prototypes can be evaluated. The first is form and fit—resemblance in shape, size, finish, and possibly even color to production parts. The other is function—resemblance in strength, durability, chemical resistance, heat tolerance, and other required material properties. Generally stated, the characteristics of the various prototyping methods are as follows:
